The space between what we want and what we do

Most of us don’t need more ambition. We need a way to turn what matters to us into something we actually do, in the life we have now.

Why I’m Building Elorit

The space between what we want and what we do

Elorit is a calm place to capture what’s on your mind, decide what matters and make room for it in your day.

It’s late. The laptop is closed, the house is quiet, and the day has been full. Meetings, messages, groceries, someone to pick up, a dozen small things handled. And yet there’s that familiar feeling: the thing that mattered most didn’t happen. Again.

Maybe it’s the project you keep meaning to start, the training you promised yourself, the call you’ve been putting off, or an idea you had on Tuesday that’s now somewhere between a notes app, a chat and the back of your mind.

That gap between what we want to do and what we actually do is what Elorit is built to help with. It gives you a place to get things out of your head, work out what matters and make room for them in your day—not just add them to another list.

How I got here

I’ve been thinking about this problem since university. I tried different tools, read books about productivity and personal growth, and even planned my life in detail in a Filofax. Each system worked for a while. Then life changed, and the system stopped fitting.

Over time, I realised that no system can make life predictable. Plans change, priorities shift, and a routine that works in one season may not work in another. What helps isn’t a perfect plan. It’s having enough structure to find your bearings again when things get busy, and a way to begin when starting feels hard.

The problem in practice

Often, the hard part isn’t wanting to make progress. It’s turning an intention into action.

A thought arrives at the wrong moment. We jot it down somewhere—or don’t. Later, we remember it, but by then it’s competing with everything else that feels more urgent. We might create a plan, sometimes with help from AI, only for it to end up in a chat window, a notes app or a document we never open again.

The pieces stay scattered: capturing in one place, making sense of things in another, and finding time to act somewhere else—or nowhere at all.

What Elorit helps you do

Elorit brings together three everyday steps.

Capture what comes to you.
A thought on a walk, a reminder in a meeting, an idea at the kitchen table. Save it from your phone or computer without having to decide right away what it should become.

Make sense of it.
When you have a moment, turn what you captured into a task, a note, part of a project or a list—and put it in the part of your life where it belongs.

Make room for it.
Plan tasks and activities over time, see how they fit with the rest of your week, and build routines for the things you want to do regularly.

Elorit keeps those steps connected in a personal space you can organise your own way. You can share a space when you want to plan with someone else, while keeping Elorit centred on your own life: your work, your home, your plans and the things you want to make room for.

Try it with one thing

You don’t need to organise your whole life before you begin. Capture one thing that’s on your mind, decide what the next step is, and choose when you might do it.

That small step won’t solve everything. But it can make a good intention easier to act on.

If that sounds like something you’ve been looking for, you’re very welcome to try Elorit and tell me what you think.
